About
DeliberateCT is a website where people can openly, honestly and respectfully deliberate on the issues that face the State of Connecticut.
In terms of openness, users are expected to register with their real names, and provide the town they are from as well as a means of verifying who they are. This is based on ideas of how town meetings are run, where a person needs to identify themselves, best practices in deliberation, as well as the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics as it relates to anonymous sources.
Once your account has been setup and verified by an administrator, you will be able to post diaries, comments and events. Administrators and Front Pagers have the ability to promote a diary to the front page. Administrators can also delete inappropriate content, although it is hoped that this will only have to happen rarely if at all.
All members are listed on:
Users, Administrators and Front Pagers
If you are interested in being an administrator or front pager, please contact us.
While the site was set up by a progressive Democrat, the site is open to people with of any political philosophy or part affiliation, with the only requirement that people be respectful here. Snark is general discouraged here. Personal attacks are strongly discouraged.
Pictures may be attached to diaries by clicking on File Attachments, and attaching the appropriate pictures. They will be resized to fit nicely on the website. Multiple pictures may be attached. To include the pictures in the diary, use [inline:1] for the first image, [inline:2] for the second image, and so on.
Please use the indent function, sometimes called ‘blockquote’ to highlight quotes from various articles. However, please be judicious in quoting articles to adhere to fair use policies.
Embedded code from sites like YouTube may also be added by disabling the Rich-Text option.
You can subscribe to receive emails of updates to diaries as well as any new diaries and new events, by clicking on “My Account” in the left hand column and clicking on the “Subscriptions” tab. Click on “Content Type” and click off the type of updates, such as Diary Entries or Events that you wish to subscribe to. You can also click on “Blogs” to subscribe to specific writers. To subscribe to comments on an individual diary, click on “Subscribe” at the bottom of the story.
If you have other questions or ideas, please share them via the Contact Form.
